I ordered the Filipino garlic fried rice w/ pork and was excited for it but to my dismay it was too bitter and sour, onion and garlic was burnt. Nothing was Filipino flavor about it. They probably squeezed some lime on it. I just ate the egg. Staffs were busy so I didn’t wanna bother as well coz I was in a hurry. Now that I checked the photo, there was no pork. It was that bad that I didn’t notice.
But I’ve been here many times, drinks are really good.
This is a nice welcome stop in the fabulous park. We loved the menu, nice and varied. I went for the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich, my wife had the Salmon dish. These were fine meals, delicious and very filling (see pic of mine). Congratulations to the team, a lovely meal.
We chose to eat outside on this occasion. It is a nice setting.
I’ve only been here a couple of times and am yet to experience good service. This morning was average at best. It wasn’t busy but it really felt like the staff didn’t want to be there. I ordered fruit bread and coffee. The butter had obviously previously melted and then been put back in the fridge so it was opaque and hard. The fruit bread was really dry and doughy. And the final straw came when I found a dark hair at the bottom of my coffee ( I am blonde ). The location is fantastic next to parklands and in a lovely area with lots is greenery. I won’t be back despite the location.
Had a wonderful breakfast at The Garden Room this morning. I ordered savoury mince on (sourdough) toast, and it was excellent. It was served with black truffle butter (a first for me) and a poached egg. I also had coffee.
The mince was a generous serve and delicious, rich in flavour with just enough vegetables - peas and carrots - to go with it. The coffee - flat white, extra shot, extra hot - was also up to the mark.
This cafe is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by greenery, both inside and out. I sat outside among the trees.
Happy with the pleasant and efficient service, too.
Well done 👏. I'll definitely be back.
We purchased two picnic boxes from The Garden Room for a Father's Day brunch in the Roma St parklands. The picnic boxes are $65 and come with two coffees. They are a good size and our two boxes fed five people with leftovers. The hits were the sandwiches (fresh and nice variety), scones (fresh cream would be better than the canned whipped cream though), danish pastry and good coffee. The misses were the frittata (bland) and banana bread (dry). We also ordered two thick shakes for our teenagers and got two milkshakes instead which was disappointing.
Great atmosphere. Food quality depends on what you order. The beef burger is dry and not very good, but the fish & chips are great! Wines and coffee are decent. The service staff is nice, but the food and drinks take forever to come out and rarely together. Animals eat your food if you aren't careful/vigilant. Cafe is overly expensive. It's worth checking out just for the atmosphere, but be prepared to pay more than usual and dial your patience meter up to 10 when waiting for your food. Personally, if I were you, I'd just stop in for a coffee to experience the nice atmosphere and not be dependent on food coming after your drinks are well finished.
This cafe really lives up to its name. Plants and greenery dominate both the inside and outside seating. Nice niches with umbrellas to enjoy a quiet coffee and watch the world go by. Fast and friendly staff, nice coffee and treats. All up a good place to stop when visiting Roma Street Parklands.
The Garden Room, the only Cafe Restaurant at Roma Parkland. Order over the counter or on from your table using table scan.
During our day tour around the Roma Parklands, we walked in for a nice breakfast and coffee, it’s nice for me though that day were too busy with my friends feeling a little dissatisfied with the service. We do understand it was just a busy day for them.
My main meal was pretty authentic and rather surprising. I ordered Beef Mosaman and somehow confirmed a different meal which was the “Winter nourish bowl” I had to accept it, I enjoyed it and wash it down with a nice refreshing delicious green smoothie.
I suggest, it is probably best for you to visit the place and see for yourself. Public transport stops right near the park.
